Donovan And The Banshee

Superman and whathavya belongs to DC, koff koff.

This new Superman character model sheet of mine presents my takes on rogue geneticist Dabney Donovan, as well as one of Big Blue's creepier enemies, the Silver Banshee.

My version of Donovan is quite an overhaul from the angry little bespectacled Hitler lookalike in the comics. I'm not a big fan of the whole 'angry little man' mad-scientist archetype - it's cliched and overblown, so I decided to give my Donovan redesign a whole different kind of freaky. And, for some inexplicable reason, the one influence that kept coming to my mind in redesigning him was Tim Curry's character in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" - yep, the Sweet Transvestite himself, Dr. Frank N. Furter. I figured I wasn't going to get away with the dominatrix outfit, though , so I kind of downplayed that aspect of it as much as possible and just kept him as close to evoking Curry as I could.

Now, Ms. Siobhan McDougal I re-honed to be less like a cast member from the new Broadway production "Skunks" and more like she's all dolled up for the Samedi family reunion in San Monique - a little "Live And Let Die" reference there.
