Mechalodon Mark II

This is the improved version of the kaiju mecha that I had created for my 'Chipverse' previously. This time I made him a "one-piece" construct instead of being a mechanical shark that merged to a transforming submarine - now he's a spacecraft.

Powers/Abilities: Antigrav/magnetic field capabilities enable him to fly; tailfin assembly splits to form double plasma cannons (thus reducing the bulk and clunkiness of the original right-shoulder-mounted cannon). The new Mechalodon also exhibits dimension-hopping abilities as the result of his rebuild, enabling him to travel to alternate universes, making him a threat in countless realities - he's often been employed by various hostile races in many different realities in exchange for energy sources.

Other Aspects: Now operates independently of his creator, the mad cyber-sharkoid Poseidon, with more cognitive thought processes than the original. The extraterrestrial engineering Poseidon used on the original is still in play here, which now allows Mechalodon to be self-repairing (probably via nanotech), making his armor not only difficult to crack by conventional Earth weapons as before, but also complicating any attempt to inflict permanent injury on him.

Weaknesses: Though more intelligent he is, he's still not very bright, and the anti-magnetic field with which he levitates can be easily disrupted. Small targets like human forces are handled easily, but other giant beasties can actually pose a challenge. His power consumption is also not an infinite factor; in fact, his newer incarnation burns up even more energy than before, probably due to the improvements made to him.

Origin: Several years after the destruction of the first Mechalodon by King Vaminos, Octoron and Mantara on Jira Island, the second Mechalodon was constructed, as before, by Poseidon (Mark II) using mech technology misappropriated from the cybernetic world of Mekanos. Unlike the original Mechalodon, however, which was constructed in space by Poseidon alone from the remains of a hijacked Mekan freighter, Mechalodon II was built entirely from scratch materials on the planet Blamm, the seat of the dread Primazoran Armada. Poseidon had bartered with the standing Primazoran administration for the location of the Armada's most wanted enemy, Alpha Guard Commander Arvelle Lyrincal, in exchange for the raw materials and manpower needed to build an even more powerful mech than the first Mechalodon. This operation was known only to Poseidon and a select few among the Primazors' leadership, as the plan was to use the new Mechalodon as the point man for a full-on Primazoran invasion of Earth after their original 'secret weapon' - the cyborg Adam Gantry - evaded their control and switched sides to the Alpha Guard. With Gantry presumed dead in the explosion that destroyed Count Uber's most recent superweapon, the Starkiller Array built by the Primazoran front company Blastron, the time was ripe for Mechalodon to make a devastating return...
