The Stronger Shark

I've been out of the Traditional art loop for a while, so for the heck of it I'm jumping back in with a scene for the basic origin story for my Jaws Chiptooth character...

When Dr. Mara Lantieri of the Aqua Medlab Marine Bioengineering Institute created Jaws Chiptooth, she had to go to MAJOR lengths to avoid being sent up for criminal practices in the process; the one corporate sponsor the institute has also has a dozen other such companies under its umbrella, each having to compete for funding, and one of those rival corporations - Hydrolica Labs - happens to be headed up by one Lanier Deutzmark, a bigshot with an ulterior motive for wanting to see Aqua Medlab sunk. To this end, he employs known adventurer Derek Tauer and shark poacher Freddie Treach to infiltrate Aqua Medlab under the cover of having a media foothold on Brucken Industries and all its affiliates. Tauer's treachery very nearly exposes Mara's illicit doings save for the intervention of the newly-awakened Jaws, who promptly bashes Treach to a pulp and sends Tauer hobbling for his life. Unfortunately, this also enables Tauer to leak what he's learned back to Deutzmark and his direct corporate superior, Victor Franck, and in the wake of Poseidon's rampage across the Thunder Road theme park Mara's covert operation is exposed, and she is promptly terminated from her position, with criminal charges on behalf of Franck's corporation pending.

Needless to say, this does NOT bode well with Jaws Chiptooth.

Though he cannot bring in Tauer on any criminal charges without compromising Aqua Medlab, he CAN force Deutzmark's hand, in the most morbid sense of the word that is applicable for one of Jaws' cross-species nature. Abruptly crashing a special meeting of Franck's board of directors, Jaws corners Deutzmark and reveals to Franck what he has learned about Hydrolica's not-so-nice administrator: that Deutzmark is in league with a supremacist group looking to molest Mara's sharkoid schematics for less-benevolent purposes more in line with those of the Axis Powers from whom the modified plans for a shark-man originated, and that Tauer is a hired gun whose mission was to sabotage Aqua Medlab so as to enable Deutzmark to acquire its every asset, lock, stock, and barrel. Well, this IS what happens, but not the way Deutzmark intended: Chiptooth gives Deutzmark a horrific choice - assume Aqua Medlab's LIABILITIES as well as its assets - thus rendering Deutzmark himself solely responsible for any criminality on Mara's part - or suffer horribly at the finny hands of one who legally does not exist and therefore cannot be prosecuted for perpetrating such brutality.

So when the perpetually-defiant Deutzmark spits in Chiptooth's face and tells him to kiss off...Chiptooth promptly bites Deutzmark's arm off.

Deutzmark does survive the encounter, as per Chiptooth's plan (by this point security personnel are already trying to bash their way into the board room which the sharkoid has conveniently barricaded), but it creates a rare situation in the history of medical emergencies: the treatment of a man who got attacked by a shark...in a fourth-story board room.
